How do I get from Simala Shrine to Oslob?

The shrine opens at 8:00 AM and this drive is 2.5-3 hours, while whale-shark registration at Tan-awan closes at 11:00 AM and the watching ends at noon, so even leaving the shrine at opening you reach the desk at roughly 10:30-11:00 with no margin at all. Treat the whale sharks as the next morning, which is the whole advantage of overnighting south: you start 15 minutes from Tan-awan instead of driving down from Cebu City before dawn. Want both on one calendar day? Do the whale sharks first at the 6:00 AM opening and take Simala northbound afterwards - the shrine is open until 5:00 PM, so that direction has hours to spare.

After rejoining the highway at Sibonga, the road continues through Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy and Boljoon before Oslob.

Not from the shrine grounds themselves. You first need a habal-habal down to the highway, then a southbound Ceres bus marked "Bato via Oslob".

If the whale sharks are the main reason you are heading south, yes - staying in Oslob turns the next day into a calm early walk or short ride instead of a 3-4 hour pre-dawn drive.

Start from the drive: 2.5-3 hours each way is 5-6 hours in the vehicle for the round trip, before you have spent a minute at Oslob. Add however long you want there and you have your finish time. The exception is Sumilon, where the day-use pass must be reserved with the resort before you travel. So the thing worth getting right in the quote is the arrival time rather than a reservation, and that is the part we plan. Usually yes. There is no minimum notice on this route and no cut-off hour, so a request for tomorrow, or for later today, is worth sending rather than writing off. What settles it is whether a vetted driver is free for the time you need, and you will have the answer and the price by email the same day, usually within a few hours. A very early start is routine here rather than a complication. The part that gets harder with less notice is choice - holding a particular vehicle size or an exact pickup hour - not whether the journey can happen, so send the date and, if the timing is tight, the hour you need to be moving.
