How do I get from the Mactan resorts to Oslob?

Roughly 130-140 km, about 4 to 4.5 hours by private car down the east coast. It is the longest single day trip from the resort strip, which is why it starts in the middle of the night.

Usually between about 1am and 3am from your resort lobby. Watching opens at 6:00 AM, registration closes at 11:00 AM and the queue at Tan-awan grows quickly, so the pickup is worked backwards from the boat you want rather than from a standard start time. The latest that still works is about 6:00-6:30 AM, which reaches the desk around 10:00-11:00 AM with no slack for traffic or a queue.

No. The whale shark interaction fee is set and collected by the local authority at Tan-awan and is paid there on the day, as is the small fee at Tumalog Falls. We quote the vehicle, the driver and the waiting time only, and we will not invent a figure for something we do not sell.

Tumalog is ten minutes from Tan-awan and almost everyone adds it - the driver waits. Sumilon is the resort’s own scheduled boat from Bangcogon on a day-use pass reserved in advance - there is no public banca at the jetty - so it needs settling at quote stage rather than promised in the car.

Start from the drive: 4-4.5 hours each way is 8-9 hours in the vehicle for the round trip, before you have spent a minute at Oslob. Add however long you want there and you have your finish time - which is why this one tends to end in the evening rather than the afternoon. We do not fix it for you: tell us the time you need to be back by when you request the quote - there is a "Back by" box on the form for exactly this - and we work the pickup back from it, or say plainly if what you want does not fit in one day. The car and driver are yours for the whole day either way, so waiting while you are out costs you nothing extra.

The exception is Sumilon, where the day-use pass must be reserved with the resort before you travel. So the thing worth getting right in the quote is the arrival time rather than a reservation, and that is the part we plan. Usually yes. There is no minimum notice on this route and no cut-off hour, so a request for tomorrow, or for later today, is worth sending rather than writing off. What settles it is whether a vetted driver is free for the time you need, and you will have the answer and the price by email the same day, usually within a few hours. A very early start is routine here rather than a complication. The part that gets harder with less notice is choice - holding a particular vehicle size or an exact pickup hour - not whether the journey can happen, so send the date and, if the timing is tight, the hour you need to be moving.

Nothing to ask for a quote. Once you are happy with the price it is two steps, not a choice between two: a booking fee paid online (card, bank transfer or GCash) confirms the trip and is what gets you your written confirmation, then the balance goes directly to your driver at the end of the journey.
