How do I get to Bantayan Island from Mactan-Cebu Airport?
Short answer
Bantayan sits off the northwest coast of Cebu, so from Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) it’s a two-part journey: roughly 140 km and 4-4.5 hours by private car up to Hagnaya port in San Remigio, then a RORO ferry across to Santa Fe on the island, which takes about an hour to an hour and a half. The drive crosses one of the Mactan bridges onto the mainland and bypasses Cebu City on the way north.
There’s no direct public transport from the airport. By bus you’d first transfer into the city to the Cebu North Bus Terminal, take a Ceres bus to Hagnaya, then the same ferry across, which is cheap but slow with luggage and a tight last-boat window. A private airport transfer goes straight from arrivals to the port, timed to catch a specific ferry.
Step by step: Mactan-Cebu Airport (CEB) to Bantayan Island
- 1Meet your driver at arrivals
A private transfer meets you with a name board at Mactan-Cebu airport, then heads straight north, no city detour to a bus terminal.
- 2Cross off Mactan and drive north
The route crosses a Mactan bridge, bypasses Cebu City and follows the northern road. About 140 km and 4-4.5 hours to Hagnaya port in San Remigio.
- 3Catch the Santa Fe ferry
RORO ferries (e.g. Island Shipping, Super Shuttle) cross from Hagnaya to Santa Fe in about 1-1.5 hours. The last trip leaves in the evening.
- 4Arrive on Bantayan
From Santa Fe port it’s a short tricycle ride to most beach accommodation.

Ways to travel, compared
- Airport transfer to Hagnaya (what we arrange)~4-4.5 hrs to port

- Airport → North Terminal → Ceres bus~5-6 hrs total
No direct bus: transfer into the city to the Cebu North Bus Terminal first, then a Ceres bus to Hagnaya port. Cheapest, but slow with stops, luggage and a tight ferry window.
- Hagnaya → Santa Fe ferry~1-1.5 hrs
Frequent RORO crossings; last trip in the evening. Tickets usually bought at the port.
Mactan-Cebu Airport (CEB) to Bantayan Island: FAQs
How long does it take to get to Bantayan from Mactan airport?
About 4-4.5 hours by private car to Hagnaya port (~140 km), then a ~1-1.5 hour ferry to Santa Fe, so plan the best part of a day of travel from arrivals. We time the pickup so you reach the port for a specific ferry.
Can you meet a late or early flight and still make a ferry?
We arrange the pickup around your actual flight time, but the last Hagnaya ferry leaves in the evening. If you land late, an overnight near the airport or in the north and an early-morning run is often the safest plan - tell us your flight and we’ll advise in the quote.
Can Bantayan be done straight from the airport in a day?
It’s very tight given the long drive plus ferry each way. We usually recommend at least one overnight on the island so the trip is actually relaxing rather than a race for the boat.
Can you do the return trip, Bantayan Island back to Mactan-Cebu Airport (CEB)?
Yes - for the way back we meet your ferry at the pier and drive you on to Mactan-Cebu Airport (CEB), the same road leg in reverse. You book the crossing itself, as on the way out; tell us your ferry and your flight time in the quote request and we set the pickup so the two connect with room to spare.
