Can I do Osmeña Peak, Moalboal and Kawasan Falls all in one day from Cebu?
Cebu’s highest ridge, the sardine run and the falls, all three in one long private-car day.
Short answer
Yes, and a private car is really the only way to do it comfortably. Osmeña Peak, above Mantalongon in Dalaguete, is about 100 km (2.5-3 hours) south of Cebu City. From there it’s a further 30 km or so of mountain road across to Moalboal on the south-west coast, roughly 45 minutes to an hour, and Moalboal to Kawasan Falls in Badian is the same coastal hop most day-trippers already do, about an hour. From Kawasan it’s roughly 120 km (3-4 hours) back to the city. Add the hike and both swims and the whole loop runs 12-14 hours door to door, which is why an early pickup, well before dawn, is what makes the day work.
The order matters: go to the summit first, while the trail is cool and quiet, then work your way back along the coast rather than doubling back on yourself. Most travellers reach Mantalongon as the sky is lightening, do the short beginner-friendly walk to the ridge, then drive on to Panagsama Beach in Moalboal for the free shore snorkel with the sardine run and turtles, and finish at Kawasan Falls for a swim in the turquoise pools before the long drive home. Your driver waits at every stop, so you set the pace rather than a bus timetable.
We arrange the private vehicle, driver and the day’s itinerary as one fixed-price quote. The Mantalongon trailhead guide, any Pescador Island boat or snorkel gear at Moalboal, and the bamboo raft at Kawasan are all small, locally run amounts paid on the ground, so they sit outside our quote. We never invent those prices.
The day, stop by stop
- 1Well before dawn pickup from your hotel~4 am start
Your driver collects you from Cebu City or Mactan for the roughly 2.5-3 hour drive south to Mantalongon. You rest in the car while your driver handles the dark highway; no bus timetable to work around.
- 2Osmeña Peak summitearly morning
A short, beginner-friendly walk from the trailhead, usually with a local guide, up to the jagged "shark-tooth" ridge for the cool morning light and sea views on both sides.
- 3Cross to Moalboalmid-morning
A scenic mountain-road drive of about 30 km, roughly 45 minutes to an hour, down to the south-west coast at Panagsama Beach.
- 4Sardine run & turtles at Panagsamalate morning
A free shore snorkel with the sardine run and green turtles, no boat needed. A Pescador Island banca trip can be added locally if you want more time in the water.
- 5On to Kawasan Fallsearly afternoon
About an hour further down the coast to Badian for a swim in the turquoise pools and a ride on the bamboo rafts under the main cascade. The full guided canyoneering descent is a separate multi-hour activity that does not fit this itinerary; ask us about that as its own day if you would rather do just that.
- 6Long drive backevening
Roughly 3-4 hours back to Cebu City or Mactan, arriving in the evening. Your driver brings you home at an easy pace after a long day.

What the quote covers
- Private air-conditioned car or van with an English-speaking local driver for the whole day
- Hotel or airport pickup and drop-off, including the very early start
- Fuel, tolls and parking, with your driver waiting through the hike and both swims
- A flexible route: trim a stop or add Pescador Island without extra waiting charge
- The local trailhead guide for the Osmeña Peak summit walk, paid at Mantalongon
- Any Pescador Island banca, snorkel-gear rental or marine-sanctuary fee at Moalboal (paid locally)
- The bamboo raft ride at Kawasan Falls, and any canyoneering if you book it separately
- Meals and personal spending
We never invent activity or entrance prices - you pay those directly on the ground.
Private day tour vs doing it yourself
- Private day tour (car & driver, ours)whole day, flexible
One vehicle and driver just for you, running the summit, the sardine run and the falls back to back without a single round trip to the city in between. The only realistic way to fit all three into one day.
- DIY by bus and habal-habal3 separate multi-hour legs
Each stop has its own bus-plus-habal-habal connection, but there is no public route linking Mantalongon, Moalboal and Badian directly, so doing all three in one day by public transport is not realistic. Most travellers who try end up dropping a stop.
Osmeña Peak, Moalboal & Kawasan Falls day tour: FAQs
Is it really possible to fit all three into one day?
Yes, but it is a long day, roughly 12-14 hours door to door, and it only works with a private car and a very early pickup. Osmeña Peak, Moalboal and Kawasan Falls sit in a rough line across the south of the island, so the drive is a series of shorter hops rather than three separate round trips from the city.
Why start at Osmeña Peak rather than the coast?
It keeps the day moving in one direction. Starting at the summit while the trail is cool and quiet, then working down to Moalboal and on to Kawasan, avoids doubling back on the same road, which is what makes the long drive manageable in a single day.
What does the quote cover, and what do I pay locally?
Our fixed-price quote covers the private car or van, the driver, fuel, tolls, parking and hotel or airport pickup and drop-off for the whole day, with the driver waiting through the hike and both swims. The Mantalongon trailhead guide, any Pescador Island boat or gear at Moalboal, and the bamboo raft at Kawasan are small, locally run amounts paid on the ground. We never invent those prices.
Can we do the Kawasan canyoneering instead of just swimming?
Not on this particular day. The guided canyoneering descent is a multi-hour activity in its own right, and adding it here would not leave time for Osmeña Peak and Moalboal as well. If canyoneering is the priority, our dedicated Kawasan Falls canyoneering day tour is the better fit.
Is it a group tour or just us?
The car is private, just your party, one vehicle and one driver for the day. A sedan suits up to about 3 to 4 travellers; a van suits a family or small group. Tell us your group size and we quote the right vehicle.
How do I book?
Send the quote request with your date, pickup point and group size. We reply by email, usually within a few hours, with a clear all-in price for the car and driver. No payment to enquire, no obligation.
