- After heavy rain
- The canyon closes when the river runs high, and the local disaster office clears the reopening. The falls themselves often stay open when the canyoneering does not
- Your driver parks at the highway by Matutinao church and waits there - the 1.5 km path in is walking (or habal-habal) only, so this is a stop where the car does not follow you to the water. It is a flat, well-made path rather than a climb, but it is not a step from the car park, and on the way out you walk it wet.
- The single most useful thing to settle before the car leaves Cebu City: canyoneering and a falls-only visit start in different places. The route runs downstream and ends at the basin, so a canyoneering party is dropped upstream at the operator station and collected at the falls, while a falls-only party goes straight to the Badian entrance. Tell us which one you are doing and the driver plans around it - on a 3-4 hour drive each way, the wrong drop-off is the whole day.
- The early slot is the one worth having. Guides advise a 7:00-8:00 AM start, and in the March-May peak the walk-in slots are reported gone by about 9:00 AM - which from Cebu City means leaving well before dawn, or sleeping down the coast the night before.
