How do I get from Siquijor to Mactan-Cebu Airport?
Short answer
Read this one before you book an international connection. Since December 2025 there is a Sunlight Air flight from Siquijor straight to Mactan-Cebu, about 55 minutes, and where it lines up with your onward flight it removes this entire page - you land at the airport you are flying out of. It only operates a few days a week (reported as four at launch and three on the airline's own current page), so check your date first.
When it does not line up, leaving Siquijor for a Cebu flight is the outbound journey run backwards, and it is the longest connection on the site: a fast ferry from Siquijor town port or Larena across to Dumaguete (about 45 minutes to an hour), a short hop round to Sibulan ferry port, the 20 to 30 minute crossing to Liloan at Santander on Cebu’s southern tip, and then roughly 165 km and about 4 to 5 hours north up the east coast to the airport. OceanJet's daily fastcraft back to Cebu via Tagbilaran is the other sea option and lands you at the pier in the city rather than at the terminal, so it still needs a road leg out to Mactan.
The sea route is a whole travel day, and here is the arithmetic rather than the advice, because every figure in it is one we already publish. Working back from the terminal: be inside it about 3 hours before a domestic departure and about 4 before an international one, since counters close ahead of the flight (typically 45 minutes domestic, 60 international). Plan the Cebu road at 5 hours rather than 4, because the 4-to-5 range is already the traffic-and-stops number and nothing needs adding on top. Allow about half an hour from the Sibulan sailing leaving to being in the car at Liloan. That is the Dumaguete-to-airport rule we publish on its own page: a boat must leave Sibulan about 8.5 hours before a domestic flight and about 9.5 before an international one.
Siquijor sits one more boat back, and that boat is the one with no alternative. Add the 45-to-60-minute crossing to Dumaguete, the short hop round to Sibulan ferry port, and honest slack between two sailings that are not timetabled to connect, and Siquijor to a Cebu flight runs about 9.5 to 10.5 hours to a domestic departure and about 10.5 to 11.5 to an international one, counted from the moment you leave Siquijor town port. That is a departure off the island in the small hours for almost any morning flight, which is why the honest answer to a morning departure is a night in Cebu first, or the direct flight.

From Siquijor town port or Larena the fast craft to Dumaguete takes about 45 minutes to an hour. OceanJet and Montenegro Lines run the leg with several sailings through the day. This is the one timetable on the chain we have not verified ourselves, so we will not print times for it - but we can tell you exactly what it has to beat. Everything after it is fixed, so aim to be at Dumaguete pier with time in hand for one of the nine Sibulan sailings listed two steps down, and check the day’s board before you commit to a flight.

It is a short ride north from Dumaguete’s ferry port to Sibulan, where the Cebu boats leave. If your Siquijor boat lands late this is the easiest place to lose your buffer, so keep it simple and go straight across.
- 3Cross to Liloan (Santander), Cebu
The fast craft from Sibulan to Liloan at Cebu’s southern tip takes about 20 to 30 minutes, at a regulated public fare paid at the port; the RORO alongside it sails nine times a day, three hours apart through the middle of the day (a ₱120 base fare when we last verified it in July 2026, plus whatever MARINA-capped fuel surcharge is in force on the day), alongside the RORO sailings on the same crossing. The Maayo Shipping RORO sails nine times a day each way and the departure times are the same from Sibulan as from Liloan: 4:30 AM, 6:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 12:00 NN, 3:00 PM, 6:00 PM, 7:30 PM, 9:00 PM and 10:30 PM as of July 2026. Add 8.5 hours to a sailing for a domestic departure and 9.5 for an international one and each boat gives a flat answer, so this is the leg to aim your Siquijor crossing at. Mind the three-hour holes between 9:00 AM and noon and between noon and 3:00 PM: missing the boat you aimed at costs three hours here, not fifteen minutes.

A private transfer waits at Liloan port, so you step off the boat into the car. From there it is roughly 165 km and about 4 to 5 hours up the east coast through Oslob, Argao and Carcar to Mactan-Cebu Airport. Plan it at 5 hours, then be inside the terminal about 3 hours before a domestic departure or about 4 before an international one. Terminal 1 is domestic and Terminal 2 international, so give your driver the flight, not just “the airport”.

After landing at Liloan you continue north by public Ceres bus, then finish with a taxi or ride-hail out to Mactan. Cheapest, but it puts a bus timetable between you and a flight at the end of an already long day.
Flying out of Mactan-Cebu: the two clocks that decide your pickup
- How early the airlines ask you to be there
- Three hours before a domestic flight and four before an international one. That is Cebu Pacific’s own published ask, and it covers Philippine Airlines, AirAsia and Jetstar, which all ask for two to three. Sources for Mactan Terminal 2 give three to four, so four is the figure to plan against on an international departure
- When the check-in counter actually closes
- This is the deadline you miss, not the one above. Counters typically close 45 minutes before a domestic departure and 60 minutes before an international one - Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines and AirAsia all publish that pair, and Jetstar is tighter still at 40 minutes domestic. Confirm your own airline, because it is the number that ends the trip
- The boarding gate is a third deadline
- Gates close before the aircraft does: 15 minutes ahead of departure on Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines, 20 on AirAsia and Jetstar. Being checked in is not the same as being allowed on - once the gate is shut a boarding pass does not reopen it
- Which terminal you leave from
- Terminal 2 for every international flight, Terminal 1 for every domestic one. They are separate buildings, so tell your driver the flight rather than "the airport" - being dropped at the wrong one costs you time you budgeted for the road
- Where the road clock stops
- At the departures door. Every drive time on this site is measured to the kerb, so the terminal hours above sit on top of it rather than inside it
- What we need from you
- The flight number, not a pickup time you have worked out yourself. We count the collection back from your departure using these figures, and on an island or ferry leg the boat, not the clock, is usually what decides the day
- Work the sum backwards on a departure, which is the opposite of an arrival. Start at the flight, take off three hours domestic or four international to be inside the terminal, then put the road in front of that at its slow end - not its quick one, because the Mandaue approach and the bridge onto Mactan are where a departure day goes wrong.
- Peak season and peak hour both add to the first figure and neither moves the second. Sinulog, Holy Week, Christmas to New Year and All Saints all draw published warnings of long counter queues, so add another 30 to 60 minutes on those dates rather than trusting the ordinary rule.
- If you are connecting from an international arrival to a domestic flight at CEB, treat it as two separate trips: the terminals have no airside link, so you clear immigration in Terminal 2, collect your bag, cross landside to Terminal 1 and check in from scratch against the cut-offs above.
- Coming off an island or a ferry, the last sailing is the real deadline and these terminal hours only tell you which sailing you need. That is the single most common way a departure day from Bantayan, Malapascua, the Camotes or Bohol goes wrong - the flight was never the binding constraint.

How long should I allow from Siquijor to a Cebu flight?
About 9.5 to 10.5 hours from Siquijor town port to a domestic gate, and about 10.5 to 11.5 to an international one. It counts up like this: 45 minutes to an hour across to Dumaguete, the short hop round to Sibulan ferry port, slack between two sailings that are not timetabled to connect, then about half an hour from the Sibulan boat leaving to being in the car at Liloan, 5 hours for the Cebu road planned at the top of its 4-to-5 hour range, and about 3 hours inside the terminal for a domestic departure or 4 for an international one. Counted from the Sibulan boat instead of from Siquijor, the back half of that is the flat 8.5-hour domestic and 9.5-hour international rule we publish on the Dumaguete route. This is the longest connection we run, and the Siquijor crossing is the one link in it with no alternative.
Can I fly out of Cebu the same day I leave Siquijor?
Only for a late-evening flight, and we would rather say so than sell you a plan we would not fly on ourselves. Run it forward: the first Sibulan sailing is 4:30 AM, and even that only reaches a domestic departure from about 1:00 PM (about 2:00 PM international) - and to make it you would have to be off Siquijor and round to Sibulan before dawn. Catch the 9:00 AM boat and your earliest realistic domestic flight is about 5:30 PM; the 12:00 NN serves about 8:30 PM. So a morning or afternoon departure is not a same-day trip from Siquijor. Fly the Sunlight Air direct if your date has it, or sleep in Cebu the night before. From about 6:00 PM onwards the same-day plan works, and the later your flight the more slack you have.
Which Sibulan sailing does my flight need?
Add 8.5 hours to a sailing for a domestic departure and 9.5 for an international one, and the nine Maayo boats each give a flat answer: the 4:30 AM serves a domestic flight from about 1:00 PM (international from about 2:00 PM), the 6:00 AM from about 2:30 PM (3:30 PM), the 9:00 AM from about 5:30 PM (6:30 PM), the 12:00 NN from about 8:30 PM (9:30 PM) and the 3:00 PM from about 11:30 PM (12:30 AM). The 6:00 PM boat and the three behind it are for a flight the next day. Read it backwards and it names the last boat you can take: a 5:00 PM domestic wants the 6:00 AM, not the 9:00 AM, which on 8.5 hours does not reach it. Then work one more leg back - your Siquijor crossing has to land at Dumaguete with time to reach Sibulan before that boat, which is the calculation the Siquijor timetable decides for you. No, and we would rather say so plainly: both crossings are public services with fixed fares you buy at the port, so they sit outside our quote. Is there a direct ferry from Siquijor to Cebu City instead?
Yes. OceanJet runs a daily passenger fastcraft from Siquijor town port to Cebu, calling at Tagbilaran on the way, in about 4 to 4.5 hours on one ticket - passengers only. It lands you at the pier in the city rather than at the terminal, so you still need the road leg out to Mactan. Lite Ferries runs the slow RORO back from Larena, the one that takes vehicles. OceanJet republishes its board roughly every fortnight, so confirm the sailing before you build a flight around it; the Dumaguete route is the one with more sailings to choose from.

How much notice do you need - can I book this for tomorrow?
Usually yes. There is no minimum notice on this route and no cut-off hour, so a request for tomorrow, or for later today, is worth sending rather than writing off. What settles it is whether a vetted driver is free for the time you need, and you will have the answer and the price by email the same day, usually within a few hours. A very early start is routine here rather than a complication. The part that gets harder with less notice is choice - holding a particular vehicle size or an exact pickup hour - not whether the journey can happen, so send the date and, if the timing is tight, the hour you need to be moving.
Do I pay anything up front, and when do I pay the rest?
Nothing to ask for a quote. Once you are happy with the price it is two steps, not a choice between two: a booking fee paid online (card, bank transfer or GCash) confirms the trip and is what gets you your written confirmation, then the balance goes directly to your driver at the end of the journey. Do you have child seats, and do I need to ask in advance?
Yes, and on an airport run it is the one thing worth saying in the quote request rather than at the kerb. We fit child seats, but they are arranged in advance rather than carried as standard, so arrivals is the worst place to find out one is missing. Philippine law (RA 11229) sets the requirement by height rather than age: a child needs a restraint until they reach 150 cm, and the seat has to suit their age, height and weight, so one generic seat does not cover a family of different sizes. It also changes which vehicle meets you, because a child seat occupies a seat and a folded stroller travels as luggage - a family of four with two seats and a pushchair wants a van rather than a sedan even though it is only four people. You are welcome to bring your own seat and it still counts as luggage when we size the vehicle.
